Early in the Summer, in response to a Mama Kat’s Writers’ Workshop prompt, I posted Thirty Things I Vow to Do This Summer. I was reminded of it when Kisatrtle posted about “How I Did on My Summer To-Do List“. She did pretty well. I didn’t. I was feeling like a slacker until Michele at The Professional Family Manager posted about how “Can’t is not a Four Letter Word”. I happily realized that it’s OK that I didn’t read as many non-fiction books as I intended to this summer, and that I didn’t refinish a single piece of furniture, and that I didn’t brave a heat index of 120 degrees and mutant ninja mosquitoes to watch a play outdoors.
School has started, and there are big changes afoot in the Ballard household, so I’m going to try again with some new plans and goals. Once again, I was inspired by a The “Other” New Year post by Michele (she really is often inspiring, and if you don’t already read her blog you are MISSING IT!). I’m starting a new type of physical therapy for my back and neck pain, I’m working on a diet and exercise plan with my friend Lisa, and my friend Dianna and I are going to do a modified version of FlyLady, which involves talking to each other on the phone to distract us while we’re cleaning. Freakin’ BRILLIANT is what I think of that idea. AND (deep breath) I am considering moving to WordPress. This is HUGE for me, since I still have cute clothes from the eighties that even if they came back in style would never fit on my body even after surgical intervention. I totaled my car last week, and since they no longer make the Saturn Relay I bought a Chevy Uplander, which is the EXACT SAME CAR with a different symbol on the grill. That’s how opposed I am to change.
Just so you know, changes are afoot around here. But slowly and carefully, like a toddler in footy pajamas – and with just that many mishaps 😉 If I weren’t adamantly opposed to auto-play music on blogs I would put David Bowie’s “Changes” on for this post, so just pretend and hum along if you feel so inclined.
