I’m Today’s SITS Featured Blogger!

Happy SITS Day to Me!

The morning that I opened the email from Tiffany and found out I was going to be a Featured Blogger I did three things:  I sent a nearly-incoherent email to the bloggers I am also very close to in real life, I emailed Sharon at Good, True, and Beautiful, who was hip-deep in switching me over to WordPress and completely redesigning my blog at the same time, and then I emailed my friend Dianna again to give her my sign-ons and ask her to be my Blog Surrogate.  If I was hit by a bus before my SITS Day I wanted to make sure everything went smoothly.  That’s reasonable behavior, right?

Well here I am, thanks to Sharon working night and day to get my blog in tip-top shape for the event and Dianna and my husband talking me down out of my tree numerous times.  I’m looking forward to reading comments and making new friends today!  Find out why I’ll never be Mom of the Year, compare notes on the dreaded carpool line, and discover what’s going to be your favorite new pizza recipe.  Then check out my About Me page so you’ll recognize me if you see me in Kroger or Target.

I am so thrilled to be the SITS Featured Blogger today, because it was the support I found through the SITS community (on their website, on Twitter, Facebook and Blogfrog, and at the uber-fabulous Bloggy Boot Camp) that helped my blog evolve from a place called Ballard Boys where I shared pictures of my kids and stories about what we’d been doing with family and friends to The Jammie Girl, my creative outlet and lifeline to my network of bloggy friends around the world.  Thanks, ladies!!

    1. Thanks for dropping by on my SITS Day! I have to tell you your social media icons are THE coolest and make me smile every time I hit your site. And I’m a good judge because I looked at EVERYONE’S social media icons getting ready for my re-design 🙂

  1. Congrats on your SITS day and your new awesome design!

I’ve been a fan for a while and I hope you get all the comment love you deserve and more.

Have a great day my friend!!!

  2. Your new design is fabulous. Congrats on your SITS day. How exciting. You deserve lots of credit for all your hard work. We should all take a day and blog in our “Jammies”.

    1. I think our tastes in headers are very similar – nice clean design, easily readable font, but casual . . . thanks for stopping by on my SITS Day!

  3. WOOHOO! I LOVE the new blog and layout Angie!
I am totally psyched that another great blogger I already follow and talk with on Twitter is the featured blogger on SITS today. I did a little happy dance for you this morning when I saw it was you!

    1. Honey, I was doing the happy dance all day! I have to tell you I kept your banshee in mind when Sharon was sending me different header options. The banshee is ALWAYS recognizable – big, small, and wherever it shows up! And yes, I need to find some furry animal slipper to wear to my next Bloggy Boot Camp!

  4. I haven’t spent a day in Jammies in years. But it sure sounds like a good idea today. And if it weren’t for needing to get children to school, you can bet you could find me on the couch.
    Happy SITS Day!

  5. Happy SITS Day and congrats on your redesign!

Being back to work outside of the home for the first time in eight years, I’m on board with your tag line…just not feeling being up, showered and fully dressed this morning 🙂

And as a new transplant to the south, I’m still learning the sweet tea thing… I can make it… it’s passable, but when it comes to dumping ALL that sugar into the pot, well, I kind of have a heart attack and end up putting in less… want to come teach me how? And if given the choice, I still prefer my tea hot ( now you probably won’t speak to me ever again:))

    1. There is nothing more comforting than a cup of hot tea. Earl Grey is my particular favorite 🙂 I did post a sweet tea recipe on my blog today – and I have to be honest, mine is usually all Splenda or at worst half Splenda.

  6. Happy SITS Day! I enjoyed your post on Mary and Martha–my challenge is that whichever one I am, I think I should be the other one. . .

    1. Thanks for dropping by on my SITS Day! It’s doubly fun to have people I know comment 🙂 I’ve already bought my ticket for San Diego, am planning on hitting Chicago, too. I really hate to miss ANY of them!

  7. Happy SITS day!

I was checking out your nativity blocks (on your former blog) and it’s such a great idea! I have a friend and cousin with new babies and so much scrap wood and paper, thank you! I can’t wait to get started on them.

    1. Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing my SITS Day! Every Sunday I link up to a meme my friend Dianna at http://thekennedyadventures.com started – Saints and Scripture Sunday. It always reminds me to take a ook back at the past week or a look ahead at the coming week with a more spiritual focus. You should join in!!

  8. Happy SITS day and congrats on your new blog:) I love that your husband appreciates your blogging outlet! Mine reads mine every day so I have to watch what I say. Sigh.

  9. Congrats on your SiTs day, your new site – and pulling off the timing of it all! The pizza recipe you posted looks amazing and from the SiTs introduction post the moo goo gai pan sounds delish too!

    1. You are so right – it was exactly like having company coming – I did my very same freak-out, but I was glued to the computer tweaking things instead of running around the house like a maniac 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!

    1. I really was much more pleased than I expected to be with my glasses – who would have thought buying glasses online would work so well? Thanks for stopping by!

  10. Good morning and congrats on your SITS day! This is my first visit and I look forward to returning. You have quite an impressive way with words. Enjoy the day!!

  11. Happy SITS day! Since I wear scrubs at work every day, it’s basically like living in my pajamas…

Congrats on your great new blog! It’s so exciting to make such a big move.

    1. Now THAT’S a cool compliment! Kind of like when you’re thinking what a cute butt some guy has and he turns around and it’s your husband 🙂 (OK, not exactly like that, but you see where I’m going . . . )

  12. Happy, Happy SITS day!! Your new look is Beeaauuutiful!! Looks like you and I have something in common with trying to be frugal. I try to have as much fun as possible in my quest to save 🙂 Can’t wait to read more…

  13. Happy SITS day!!! YAY! 🙂 Been looking around and know I want to come back… if nothing else to get that pizza recipe. I am a sucker for pizza! 🙂

Oh, and I love that you had a “back up plan” for Dianna to take over thing… just in case. 😉

    Blessings!!

  14. HAPPY SITS DAY! Congratulations! I read on your interview that your blog has helped you rediscover that you love writing. that is exactly what it has helped me realize. I hadn’t written anything since highschool until I started blogging. I’m wondering why I haven’t been doing it all these years! Have a great day.

    1. Doesn’t it feel great? I hadn’t written since high school, either – why did we let something we loved get away from us? Ah, well, now we’ve got it back! 🙂

  15. I love the name of your blog. In fact we have pj days in our house where everyone stays in their pjs:) Congrats on your SITS Day! Your carpool line post was hilarious.

  16. Hi Angie,
Happy SITS day!! I know you’ll enjoy it!! I too discovered unexpected rewards from blogging and it’s so great to see how it’s bringing out the creative artists in all of us mommies!
So glad to “meet” you – have a wonderful day! 🙂

  17. Happy SITS day! And kudos to you for pulling it all off so effortlessly, with the blog switch and redesign. Your header is too cute and I love your tagline! 🙂

  18. Your blog looks fabulous! Congrats on moving to WordPress!! And a BIG congratulations on your SITS Day!!!! I hope it is a blast for you!

  19. I am a transplant southerner in the north…..they don’t know what sweet tea is up her lol. That’s when I take it into my own hands and make it myself. I love your attitude and I love your new theme! Grats on your SITS day!

    1. I know! Don’t you hate it when you ask for sweet tea in a restaurant and they say, “Well, we can bring you some iced tea and some sugar packets . . . ” GRRR! Thanks for stopping by!

  20. I love the intro to yourself – and your header is GREAT ’cause it’s so true. I had to get some nicer jammies since I have occasional visits from the mail people delivering mail! Off to check out your postings now – CONGRATS on your SITS Day! Love your “voice” – so upbeat and funny – just love it!

    1. Oh, thank you! I think “crisp and clean” was the very first thing I listed when I started working with my blog designer, Sharon. Super-busy and hard-to-read blogs make me CRAZY!

    1. Yay for boy-moms! From what I’ve seen with my friends and family we have it harder than girl-moms during the early years, but MUCH easier once puberty hits – LUCKY US!!

  21. Happy SITS day! Nice redesign! So just how bad was the conversion to wordpress.org? I’m thinking of taking the leap. Love the post about not being mommy of the year – boy could I add to that list. But if we don’t admit and move on, we don’t have time to pat ourselves on the back for all the things we do right.

Enjoy your fame. You deserve it.

    1. I’m so glad you stopped by! I thought the switch would be awful – I’d heard all the horror stories. It was actually COMPLETELY PAINLESS. The secret is to have a fabulous and experienced person do it for you. Sharon at Good, True, and Beautiful did all the heavy lifting for me. She’s got a button near the top right of my site – go check her out. Her waitlist was a month long when I got on it, but she’s worth waiting for – GOOD LUCK!

    1. Thank you! I also clean out my underwear drawer before I go on vacation in case I die and someone else has to go through my things. I’m optimistic like that 😉

  22. Happy SITS Day Angie. It’s great to “meet” you! I really like the layout & feel of your blog…looking forward to snooping around a little more to find out about you! 🙂

  23. So nice to meet another southern gal. I SO hear ya on the sweet tea. It’s pretty much the only thing I drink when we’re out at a restaurant. My meal just isn’t complete without a glass of it. Your blog looks fabulous, your designer did an amazing job!

It’s so nice to meet you and I look forward to poking around your blog a bit more!

  24. How exciting to see in my Google Reader that you were today’s feature at SITS! What great timing for your new blog—hope you get lots of new followers!

Speaking of new blog, it looks really great. Love the title and your new logo (is that a picture of my thin, toned, tanned legs you’re using?).

    1. I know, it’s like hitting the lottery! I was hoping you wouldn’t notice I’d stolen a pic of your legs off your site to use in my header – tried to disguise them with the slippers 😛

  25. I love your tag line, “Anything worth doing can be done in jammies.” I’ve had to fight with my daughter over the years about wearing her jammies in public. She will be the first to tell you how true this is.

  26. Congratulations on your SITS day! Like your new blog design – those slippered feet are too cute! I can’t wait to check out your pizza recipe (pizza’s a favorite of mine – but it’s usually everyone’s favorite).

    Peace,
    Michelle ~ Fellow SITStah 😉

  27. First, I want to recognize your wise decision to have someone else install WordPress. I had no idea what htmp was a year ago and I set up mine, Need I say more?
Secondly, your writing style draws the reader in, and has them sitting on the edge of their seat anticipating your next sentence.
Third, It’s 1pm and I am writing this in my jammies l-)

  28. Congrats on your SITS day. So enjoyed poking around your blog. We have a lot in common! I also post recipes and love comfort food and use my blog partly as a way to keep writing and stay creative. I love to read. Am reading The Zookeeper’s Wife right now. I’m now following you on twitter! oh and BTW, your blog design looks great!

  29. Congrats and happy SITS day! I love your blog design – I’m all about switching over to wp, too. I’m stuck right now- at “a day in the life of a grad student’s wife”, with a URL that makes no sense – but when the hubs becomes a professor in a few months, i’m making the big switch to WP and changing my title, URL, the whole works – going through what you went through! But change is GOOD.

    1. Good for you! I hope your transition is as fun and hassle-free as mine was! If you don’t have a blog designer picked out yet Sharon at Good, True, and Beutiful was WONDERFUL to work with!

  30. Hi! Congrats on your SITS day and the new blog! I’m a new follower. Please visit me at Life The Green Way when you get the chance (www.lifethegreenway.org).

    1. That’s so funny – you hit the nail on the head! There has been quite a bit of eye-rolling going on, so thanks for understanding how AWESOME AND THRILLING this is for me 🙂

  32. Congrats on your super fun SITS day!! I know you have to be soooo excited. Thanks for the recipe for pizza, that looks like a cool one. Can’t wait to try it out.

I LOVED you Mary and Martha post. I am so a Martha (have lists of my lists even) and so wish I could be more of a Mary, too.

    Love your blog…you go girl!!

  33. CONGRATULATIONS to my fellow Well Brought Up Southern Girl! Thanks for being part of my A List, Inner Circle, Best Friend crew!

You’ve done a fabulous job — now enjoy the attention!

  34. I am so with you – Jammies are WHERE IT IS AT.

I’ve taken to singing. I’m Jammies…Won’t you be Jammies too. I’m Jammies Jammies a la bob Marley.

  35. Love your blog! Congrats on your SITS day, how exciting!!! I thought it was hilarious that you had someone ready at the helm in case you died before your blog was posted! Wow, way to be organized :).

  36. Angie, congratulations on your SITS day! Wow, nothin’ like finding out it’s your SITS day in the 11th hour, but I must say you pulled it off with flying colors! Your new blog looks fabulous! My family leaves for a short vacation tomorrow (the first in eons!), so I’m scrambling to pack and get the house and pets ready. I’m looking forward to spending more time on your blog and reading your featured posts later in the day! Best, Jenn

  37. Love your blog and LOVE when I find another woman of faith blogger! Yeah for you! Love your post on Martha and Mary – just read John 11 today and they were in it – those funny sisters. I love ’em.

  41. Congratulations! I’m looking forward to reading why you won’t be mom of the year. I also must read what you wrote about the dreading carpool line. I hate that line myself.

  42. chances are.. i wouldn’t bump into you in Target or Kroger but I will surely check out your About page! =p

I can’t wait to check out the other parts of your blog esp “recipes”

Happy SITS day to you! =)

  43. Oh I am so glad I am not the only one up for mom of the year….
    Oh and happy SITS Day!
Tell me life just isn’t more interesting in a house full of just boys! I keep trying to tell my mom that but she insists it would have been better had I had a girl!

  44. Stopping by from SITS! Congrats on your big day! I love the look of your blog – classic and easy to navigate! Keep blogging!

  45. I love the way you highlighted the important posts on your blog in one go. Congrats on your SITS day.

This is the first time I’ve come across the concept of a blog surrogate.

  46. A blog surrogate. Yes, I think that’s quite appropriate reaction. Of course, if you got hit by the bus I wouldn’t have been able to read the funny mutant ninja squirrel post and I would have been sad.

    Happy belated SITS day.

    LisaDay

  47. ahhhh! I’m late, so sorry I missed your official SITS day but I am here, with bells on, doing cartwheels in my kitchen, and raising my glass (coffee cup) to you sweet bella! congratulations!!!!

You really make me smile reading through your posts, your boys are precious, and I too have thoroughly enjoyed this whole new world that has opened up for me through blogging – have a glorious day sweet bella!

    1. I’m so sorry – I don’t even know! My designer, Sharon, took care of setting everything up for me. She’s got an ad at the top of my sidebar if you’d like to contact her.

  48. Pretty nice post. I just stumbled upon your blog and wanted to say that I have really enjoyed browsing your blog posts. In any case I’ll be subscribing to your feed and I hope you write again soon!
