Gravy, Shopping, Writing, and THE NEW PROJECT

I’ve had five days off from work.  During those five days I cooked an entire Thanksgiving dinner, INCLUDING my first successful gravy attempt.  Thank you, Joyce at October Farm, for the best gravy recipe ever!  Then we spent several hours Thanksgiving night in the ER with my Father-in-Law, who had passed out during Thanksgiving dinner at my sister-in-laws.  He’s fine – it was just overeating and overheating.  On Black Friday I stayed in my jammies all day (you know how I love to do that!) but my eldest son braved the 4 a.m. crowds.  Here’s a picture of him with his haul:

The leather jacket is gorgeous, but the hat?  Let’s just say he didn’t have to fight anyone to get that hat.  And whatever he paid for it, it wasn’t a bargain.  The Ale, of course, was how he stayed awake until 4 a.m. to shop after eating two Thanksgiving dinners.  We also had a visit from Dianna, her handsome hubby, and the Kennedy Kaboodle.  And yes, I WAS still in my jammies, and no they didn’t care.  Good friends are like that.  And let me just say that there’s nothing like spending time with ridiculously adorable children to put you in the holiday spirit 🙂

Saturday, I finished my NaNoWriMo novel – WOO HOO! while Michael’s Old Guy Band Day was in full swing in my basement (AKA Turn 3 Recording Studio).  I heard the tracks they recorded yesterday, and let me just say they ROCK!

Sunday I meal planned, grocery shopped, and got down to some serious online shopping.  I also made and froze five meatloaves ( Michael did the heavy work) and got caught up on emails, blog reading, and bill paying.  Then I played with my new Pampered Chef goodies that arrived late Saturday (thanks, Angel!)

Today I took a trip downtown to my favorite thrift store to buy some workout clothes for my December Project, and guess what I got?

Yes, I am now a Unique Thrift Store VIP (pick yourself up off the floor, Kelley, I can hear you laughing) and I will now get an extra 25% off my Unique haul every Thursday.  And yes, I will drive to the murder capital of Louisville to get a bargain.

Oh, did I mention a December Project?  Well, I thought since that whole NaNoWriMo thing went so well I should do something for December.  I haven’t ironed out all the details, but it will involve me losing TWENTY POUNDS in December.  And guess what?  You’re all invited!  Well, except for you skinny bitches, but you knew that already, now didn’t you?  Check back on Wednesday for details.  I haven’t named this project yet, so you skinny bitches feel free to suggest names.  I really don’t want you to feel left out.

  1. How about PROPER PORTION PROJECT. Just a suggestion from a skinny bitch.

That gravy from Joyce is to die for isn’t it! Maybe someone will steal Aarons hat at school.

    1. I know you’re chubby at heart!! And you’re right, it really is all about portion control and being aware of what you’re eating and doing. Unfortunately, I feel sure Aaron will lose everything else before he loses that goofy hat 🙂

  2. I certainly don’t qualify as a Skinny anything, but my suggestion is:

    AnLo20Mo (Angie Lose 20 Month)

I agree with Beverly about the hat — or, if my son can lose a futon, maybe a hat will join it in the great kingdom of lost items.

  3. I am going to check out that recipe. You just can’t beat good gravy. I like a little mash pot swimming in gravy. I like everything to swim in gravy and my husband is the opposite 🙁

We have a Unique store here in MN and when we lost power we visited it and I got Gap jeans that were perfect for $6. I am not sure what makes me happiest: jeans that fit or the price!

As for the hat, since I live in MN, I think the hat rocks. It looks warm!!!

And I would love to lose 10 lbs. I will join you.

    1. If you like LOT of gravy this is absolutely the recipe for you – it makes a ton! Enjoy it today, though, because we’re getting serious about taking those pounds off starting tomorrow!

  4. Here’s my two cents. How about Skinny Bitches Beware – Project SBB? Or maybe I’m Gonna Be a Skinny Bitch, Too – IGBASBT? Pretty much anything with skinny bitch in the title will make me laugh out loud every time. As a recovering skinny bitch myself, I can appreciate anything that pokes a bit of fun at them 😉

  5. This picture of Aaron makes me laugh …. and I got to see it in person!

Thanks so much for dinner, and for my laminator! I’m even taking it to girls night out tonight, along with my glue gun, to work on some things.

    Yeah, I’m a nerd.
