Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. ~ Colossians 4:2
At some point this past week I read in a blog, tweet, email, Facebook post, or who knows where a little snippet that went something along the lines of “What if you woke up tomorrow with only the things you had thanked God for today?” I think I’m pretty good about being thankful, about counting my blessings, but there’s certainly room for improvement. Coincidentally, my boss also stopped by this week to drop by my nurses’ week gifts, one of which was a nice little blank book. I’m a list-maker at heart but I have never before made prayer lists. I know a lot of people do, but it just never seemed to suit me or my conversational prayer style. Well, I’m trying it, and I think I like it. Every day I make a list of things I am thankful for and situations and/or people to pray for. It helps me focus my often scattered thoughts, and I think reading back through the lists weeks, months, even years later will prove beneficial as well.
Do you write down prayer lists or do you just “wing it”?
