Chowder with Ham, Potatoes, and Corn

Here’s a recipe I published on my blog a couple of years ago – I found it while digging around looking for comfort food.  With a quick stop at the grocery for a package of chopped ham and some nice crusty rolls I think this will satisfy everyone for supper tonight!
Potato, Corn, and Ham Chowder
6 or 7 medium potatoes, peeled and quartered
1 medium chopped onion
2 cups chicken stock
1 stick butter
2 tablespoons flour
1 cup chopped ham
3 cups milk
2 cans corn, drained
Tabasco, salt, and pepper to taste
Place potatoes and onion in pot with enough water to cover. Salt and pepper lightly. Boil until potatoes are soft, then drain and mash (leaving some chunks for texture). Melt butter in frying pan, add flour and ham and cook over low heat for a few minutes to blend flavors. Pour over potatoes. Add stock, milk, and corn and bring ALMOST to a boil. Let it sit on low heat for about an hour if possible to bring out the flavors. Add salt, pepper, and Tabasco at intervals as needed.

I’m linking this up to The Grocery Cart Challenge Recipe Swap and Tastetastic Thursday.

Priced at just $4.99, it is now available in every format your little heart could desire at Smashwords, or, if you prefer, it’s also for sale in a Kindle version at Amazon or a Nook version at Barnes and Noble!

    1. Yep, and you know how grumpy I get when there’s white stuff falling from the sky. Any white stuff should be below my feet, warm, and called “sand”.

  1. Sounds seriously scrumpt. And easy enough for even me to tackle.

And now that we’re finally getting some weather below 80* here in Texas, this just might be my little Saturday afternoon project!
