A Very Random Post

I’m sorry, but I’m having a lot of trouble adjusting to the changes in the responses in the Catholic Mass.  And I don’t think I’m the only one.  Reading from a script just sucks all the joy out of the church service for me right now, but I’m going to keep trying.

I’ve heard that Google Friend Connect will no longer be available to those of us who do not use Blogger as out blogging platform.  I use WordPress, switched a couple of years ago and will never switch back, so if you currently follow me through GFC please use the RSS feed button at the top right of my blog (two little curving lines and a dot next to the next of the Twitter, Facebook, and Email icons) to subscribe in your Google reader.  You’ll still get my blog updates the same way.  This is evidently a ploy by Google to drive traffic to the desolate wasteland known as Google+, but I find it a bit punitive.

On a related note, my Google account was disabled for about forty-eight hours last week.  I couldn’t access my Google reader, commenting on blogs was much more difficult, and it basically annoyed the crap out of me.  By the time they had decided I was disabled “in error” I had 800 posts in my Google Reader.  I was overwhelmed, so I went through about the first two hundred and then clicked “mark all as read”.  I’m sure I missed something important, but I’ll just have to live with it.

My sleep number bed (that I won in a Twitter party) arrived this week, and think I would live in that bed if I could.  It is SO comfortable.  I’ll surely be writing a full blog post about it soon, but let me just tell you if you’re considering buying yourself one for Christmas – DO IT!

Aaron’s home for Christmas, and I’m savoring every minute of it, especially since he’s getting married in a year and a half.  It seems like such a short time ago he was sprinkling reindeer food in the yard on Christmas Eve and wearing footie pajamas. *sigh*

My final online order for Christmas arrived yesterday, and it was one the had been tagged “not guaranteed for Christmas delivery”, so I was pretty excited.  And I finished my final handmade Christmas gifts late last night, so now it’s just the fun stuff to go: decorating the tree, wrapping presents, and enjoying time with friends and family.

I get to go wedding dress shopping tomorrow, and if that doesn’t mean I have the most awesome future daughter-in-law in the world I don’t know what does.  And yes, I have Kleenex packed.

    1. You made me laugh so loud I woke the dogs up! I still haven’t gotten used to standing in line at the beer booth behind my pastor, though. Makes me giggle every time 😉

  1. I AM SOOOOO behind on my RSS feeds it’s not funny and I’m going out of town this weekend so I will be even MORE behind come Monday but we will live and learn. I recently moved to WP from blogger and LOVE IT! A bunch of us are trying to see if the GFC thing for non-blogger blogs is just a ploy I guess come Marchish we’ll find out.

Did you know you can send a newsletter/email through the GFC? I think I’m going to do that when it gets closer to tell my readers to subscribe via RSS or email. I can send you a tutorial if your interested.

I LOVE TWITTER PARTIES! I won a slice-o-matic at one a few weeks ago. Not as cool as a bed but still cool. I like your blog 🙂 a bunch of bloggers were just joking that we never got dressed the other day 🙂

    1. I would love that tutorial if you don’t mind sending it to me. Like you, I’m not sure if it’s just a ploy, but it would be nice to remind GFC followers to subscribe another way just in case 😉

  2. I too am having problems with the new responses in the Catholic mass. But then so is our priest. He keeps losing his place. And “Consubstantial?” Who the heck thought that would be more clear than “One in being with the Father?”

I think someone cut a deal with the printers and publishers of missels and religious books. Every parish in the US had to replace all those printed materials. Crazy and extremely expensive.

    1. So true! I was on retreat this weekend and they gave everyone a magnificat so we had all the right responses. I was impressed we did much better than at regular sunday mass and the parts we messed up on we all laughed together and I think it’s humble when we see the priests messing up bc it shows that “they are human” 🙂

Yes I HATE that consubstantial wth does that mean? Like Colbert said am I praying or taking my SATS?

I went to a presentation on the new missal back in September and my pastor said “someone is getting rich off of this and it isn’t me!”

  3. How was the wedding dress shopping? I’ve got such good memories of shopping with my mom for my dress (and we both HATE shopping, so that’s kind of surprising to me.) I’d have loved to have my future mother-in-law come along as well, but she lived on the other side of the country.
