Welcome to “Share the Love”, where I’m rounding up some artists and craftspeople who sell their wares directly to their customers. With the economy what it is I want to spend my money with individuals and small businesses whenever possible and I thought perhaps you, my readers, would be looking for ways to support the little guy as we start thinking about Christmas presents. None of these posts are sponsored, I’ve just invited these folks to show you their fabulous products and tell you how you can buy them.
In 2009 I became an “Accidental Entrepreneur”. After 25 years, I transitioned out of my high technology profession as a project manager and business analyst designing and implementing web-based applications into a new and exciting world of soap crafting. I’ve always been a creative individual with very limited time to exercise my passion and since the start my creative juices have been unleashed. I’m really excited and motivated to be on this journey – developing this discipline around designing, crafting, packaging, and marketing my soapy art. My household fan club consists of my husband and identical twin boys (age 10) who are rooting for me all the way to the bathtub or kitchen sink (where they can always find A Slice of Delight soap).
In 2011 I shut down my shop for a year so – my family could take a sabbatical to live in Dakar,Senegal, Africa – the goal – to immerse ourselves in the French language of Senegal and engage with the people, volunteer projects, culture, food, music and surroundings of the country. It was an incredible journey that will always be imprinted in our hearts and minds for ever. And now I’ve just returned to open shop again to start ruffling your senses.
Here are a few samples of her work. The first time I ordered from her I discovered this isn’t just soap – it’s soap as art!
This one is “Land of Sweets”. It’s a confetti soap for kids and is scented with jelly beans, lemon drops, and cotton candy 🙂 ($5.00)
This is a cranberry salt bar. This shea butter and olive oil salt bar soap is fragranced with Spiced Cranberry, a refreshing blend of cranberry relish and orange zests with hints of ginger, nutmeg, and cinnamon. A true spa experience! ($5.50)
Here is “Ancient Sedona” – a men’s soap scented with green notes of Mandarin Leaf and Orange Blossom. Moves to Floral, Bulgarian Rose and Vetiver. Ends with sensual notes of Sandalwood, Bourbon Vanilla, Amber, Labdanum and Tonka Bean. Who knew soap could be sexy?? ($6.00)
