My Five Favorite Books in The Past Month

twitterature-graphic1

I’m a voracious reader, so I’m limiting myself to my favorite five books read in the last month and linking up with Anne at Modern Mrs. Darcy (she hosts Twitterature the fifteenth of every month) and Angie at Many Little Blessings, who hosts List it Tuesday every week.

I was so excited to get to read Hijacked, Leslie Lynch’s first book. I loved both the hero and heroine in this book, and by the end was feeling a nearly visceral need for the heroine to meet the many challenges life had thrown her way. Her second book, Unholy Bonds, is already out and on my “read soon” list!

I’ve enjoyed Mysti Parker‘s Fantasy series set in Tellenmere – reading it over and over. But I was lucky enough to read a small portion of her upcoming historical romance, and now I feel like I have my nose pressed against the Krispy Creme window, smelling the wonderful fresh donut smells and waiting for them to open. I can’t wait for the book to be released!

I’d been waiting patiently (not really) for Tiffany Reitz’s release of The Saint, but shortly beforehand I checked her Amazon page and found The Last Good Knight, a novel in 99-cent installments that I just adored. She creates the most fabulous characters!

I re-read Carpe Demon: Adventures of a Demon-Hunting Soccer Mom” target=”_blank”>Carpe Demon, the first in a series by Julie Kenner. A friend introduced me to these books a few years back, and I’d forgotten how funny a demon-chasing soccer mom could be. It’s free right now on Kindle and makes the perfect vacation read!

And then there’s Nefarious, by Tina DC Hayes. I love her adorable Pedal Pusher Mysteries series, but this is the first I’ve read of her self-described “gritty romantic suspense” novels. It was fantastic in so many unexpected ways. Super-sexy, fast-paced, and funny; it had me laughing out loud – I can’t remember the last time I did that with a book. Fingers crossed there’s another one like this coming soon!

Sorry I don’t have book covers – Amazon just didn’t want to work with me today!

  1. Hey, Angie, thanks for including my books in your blog today! What a wonderful surprise! I’ve got to add some of the others on your list to MY TBR pile! You’ve got quite an eclectic list going there, with one thing in common: funny and/or uplifting. Great choices! 🙂

    1. Funny and uplifting is exactly what I need right now – so I guess that’s why these are my favorites. I don’t think I could finish even a wonderful literary fiction book right now if I tried. I’ll read those later 🙂
