Come Away and Rest

Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.  ~ Mark 6:31

Boss and Sam

Sometimes sleep is hard to come by.  Frequently pain keeps me awake, or worry, and occasionally my brain just won’t shut down (or won’t stay shut down for long enough).  So I rest when I can, and if I can’t sleep then one of these two big furballs is usually willing to keep me company.  They don’t mind watching DVRd episodes of Smash or Real Housewives of Orange County in the middle of the night, and they’re always up for a nap in the afternoon if I feel so inclined.  God made big, snuggly dogs for a reason, and they are a blessing I am thankful for.

  1. My furball keeps me company, but she is sound asleep while she is doingn it!!! I can roll and toss and get up and down 10 times during the night, and she doesn’t move. Just scoots a bit closer to touch me, when I get back in bed, long sigh, and she’s out like a light!!!!

  2. My big, snuggly 15 year old yellow lab furball passed away 3 years ago this last February.

    I still miss her everyday.

    Enjoy yours…they are precious.

    1. That’s about how long we’ve been without our first dog, Millie, who was a chocolate lab. Even though she lived a full life and passed away peacefully it was hard on the whole family.

  3. Insomnia – no matter what the cause – pain, pregnancy hormones, stress- is NO fun. While you watch TV – I’m busy reading 800+ blogs!
Maybe we should both start taking tryptophan. 😉

  4. That is one of my favorite verses. I almost used it myself this week! Thank you for confirmation that I need to take a few steps back and treat myself to some much-needed rest! (Sometimes it’s almost like I have to have permission to do it, and you just gave it to me!)

  5. First of all, this is my first time here and I absolutely love your motto! I agree!! Secondly, insomnia is the pits. Like someone else said, when I am suffering from insomnia I’m reading blogs or writing. I’m thankful you have your furry babies to rest with when you’re able!

  6. I’m thankful that most of the time I’m a sound sleeper. I know lots of people who have trouble going and staying asleep. It’s good you have your fur balls to comfort you. Sounds like they are easy to please.
