Those of you who’ve known me for years will find this shocking, but I am no longer a morning person. Yep, the annoying chick who popped out of bed at 3:15 a.m. and was at work between 4:00 and 4:30 is gone. I spent many years being annoyed at people who weren’t up and being productive by seven, offices that didn’t open until nine, and anyone who had the audacity to accuse me about leaving work “early” after a ten-hour day without so much as a bathroom break just because it was the middle of the afternoon.
Now I’m not working, I spend a majority of the day trying to balance the misery of constant pain with the side effects of pain medications, and I either sleep like a corpse (if I take my muscle relaxers) or don’t sleep at all (if the doctor or pharmacy gives me grief about refilling a prescription). I’m dealing with depression as well as the sheer exhaustion of fighting pain all day. So getting out of my bed, the most comfortable spot in my house, is just not appealing. Of course neither is still being in bed when my son gets off the school bus.
So I’m going to try this “Hello Mornings” thing. I’m going to wake up and be productive earlier, even if some of that productivity does have to be in bed with a laptop and a heating pad. If you’re interested in making your mornings more productive click on the button above to check it out. It starts Monday, so all the Eastern Time Zone groups were full, but I found a Central Time Zone group that’s being led by someone with fibromialgia and signed up. We’ll see. BTW, you don’t have to have a blog to do this. You can participate through Twitter or Facebook and still reap all the benefits.
And yes, Dianna, this is all your fault.
