He said therefore, “What is the kingdom of God like? And to what should I compare it? It is like a mustard seed that someone took and sowed in the garden; it grew and became a tree, and birds of the air made nest in its branches.” And again he said, “To what should I compare the kingdom of God? It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed in with three measures of flour until all of it was leavened.”
That’s my scripture for today, and here’s why. I’ve been trying to be a more positive person, but it’s just my nature to expect and prepare for the worst and then be pleasantly surprised when things don’t turn out that badly. Anyway, I was telling my friend Lisa about how frustrated I was with trying to surround myself with positive thoughts and she gave me a suggestion: Find one positive thing, however small, in every situation. I was having a really lousy morning at work yesterday, but I’d had a wonderful cup of coffee, so that was my one little thing. And you know what? It helped! So this scripture with the teeny tiny mustard seed or the little bit of yeast in the dough, is about seeding my thoughts with small positives that will take root and grow into a larger positive attitude.
