Here’s an email I sent to my boss yesterday morning:
Subject: New Work Plan
It’s after 10am and although I’ve been up a long time I have not even had a shower yet. I have only just now finished checking email, reading new blog posts on the blogs I follow, answering communications from people commenting on my recent blog posts, checking Facebook and posting some comments there, and making sure I’m not missing anything major on Twitter. I still haven’t written any blog posts, updated my Facebook status, or Tweeted at all. I just don’t see how I am going to be able to fit work back into my day on Monday, so here’s my plan:
1.) I don’t ever leave home. I stay in my jammies and drink coffee all day. Face-to-face interaction is WAY overrated.
2.) The office, the nurses at the hospitals, and the doctors can reach me via Twitter. My ID is @angieballard. There is a limit of 140 characters per Tweet, so Dr. Longwinded may have some trouble adjusting to this.
3.) I will pull up all the patient data from the computer, write progress notes at home, and fax them to the hospitals to be placed on the charts. If I can get the monitor techs to take Twitpics of the EKG strips this will go very smoothly.
4.) I will respond to all communication via Tweets, texts, Facebook messages, or blog posts (which I will then Tweet a link to).
5.) I bought a video camera this week, so I will use that for any communication that requires a visual component. Jack will be helping me with this since he actually knows how to use the video camera and I don’t. I can post these on the blog or YouTube, whichever the docs prefer (see how adaptable I am?).
Have a good weekend! See you (virtually, of course) Monday 🙂
