Say Hello to My Little Friend

I’ve been stalking, I mean reading the “Capture the Everyday” meme on Adventuroo for a while now.  I love it because I’m one of those people who zeros in on the background items in old pictures.  You know:  “Check out that old car!” “Whose dog is that?” “Look at the size of that lilac bush!”.  And this is a meme that encourages everyone not only to stop cropping out all that stuff, but to focus on it.  This is the first time I’m participating, because I just couldn’t help myself.  Today’s prompt is “Modern Technology” and the FedEx man just delivered my latest nifty gadget yesterday.  I think I shall name him Kenny.

You will notice I may be a gadget junkie, but I am NOT a gadget hog. This is the first book being read on my new Kindle: my hubby Michael reading Sammy Hagar’s new autobiography. I’m a fiction girl. If it really happened I don’t want to read about it, particularly if it happened to Sammy Hagar.

    1. I think I’m going to love the Kindle! Can’t say for sure, though, since my hubby read on until the wee hours of the morning, and now my 12yo, who’s on Spring Break, has it in his paws! Mom’s turn better come soon!

  1. I talked about this on the meme last week, but I have a nook that is still in the box from Christmas. Must. Get. It. Out. And. I must give him a name.

    1. If I had bought a Nook I was going to name him Theodore (for Dr. Seuss). Reading a book on a Nook is just so Seuss-ian!! (Until it gets stolen by a crook with a hook – that was my fear.)

  2. Kenny is adorable 🙂 You are so nice to share. When I first got MY nook, it was supposed to be for both me and my hubby. He got to see it for approximately 4.3 seconds before I claimed it as my own…

  3. Oooh I’m jealous! I want one but honestly I’d have to actually be reading more regularly before I could justify it. I love to read but I’m a slacker lately.

Anyway, thanks for your first link-up! And treat that Kenny well!

  4. Totally jealous of your Kindle, I desperately want one, but since I have the ipad, I feel getting the kindle. Although I never really use the ipad as a reader.

  5. It’s about time you jumped in! I have used the iPad once for an ebook. I always forget I can do that. Maybe I would read more then…

    1. And goodness knows you don’t want to buy any books that will just have to be packed up and moved soon! Just download a few fluffy little books and enjoy 🙂

  6. I’m not sure if I’m jealous or not. I keep thinking I want one but I’m a total book lover and it’s the one thing I can’t switch to electronic versions of. Yet. I do have the iPad and don’t quite use it as a reader as I expected I would, but we’ll see. Maybe someday.

    1. A friend suggested I keep buying the hardbacks my favorite authors write, but download ebooks from authors or genres I want to try out or “fluff” books I would normally buy in paperback. It’s kind of the best of both worlds 🙂

    1. Oddly, I’m not missing the pages at all so far. And the best thing today is that I’m reading a hilarious paranormal called “50 Ways to Hex Your Lover” and as far as anyone knows in the waiting room I could be reading War and Peace or Anna Karenina!

  7. Well, I don’t have a kindle or nook yet, mainly for the same reasons you stated. But, I also still have dial-up, a VCR, and a pre-pay cell phone from WalMart, so I’m not the queen of technology and gadgets (at least at home.) Now having said all that … I just took time to read a lot of your postings on your blog, and I LOVE THEM!!! Enjoyed everyone. Good job!!!!

    1. Thank you so much! Make sure and check out my “About Me” page, because I think that’s the next thing we need to tackle for your blog (so everyone can meet “The Girl Behind the Pearls”!).
