Steampunk and Insanity for Halloween

Here was the inspiration for John’s pumpkin this year:

And here’s the real deal:

He decided at the last minute to go for disgusting instead of steampunky.  The close-up reminds me how glad I am that he’s old enough to scoop the guts out of his own pumpkin – BLEH!
And his costume.  His original plan was insane asylum escapee, and he’d already cut the sleeves of one of my old lab coats to sew onto another to make a straight jacket when he decided to change directions.   He dressed as a nerd.  Yes, that is a fanny pack.

  1. Ha! Love the pumpkin, and he looks very proud of himself. 🙂

I’m a little ashamed to say that I don’t really know what steampunk is. I’ve heard about it everywhere, just need to google it, I guess!

    1. Have you over seen the movie Wild Wild West with Will Smith? Steampunk is like that – set in the past, but with high-tech gadgetry. Lots of Steampunk novels coming out, too!
