The Perfect Cinnamon Rolls

I was hunting for something wonderful to cook for the guys while I was off work, and I found several recipes on for Bread Machine Cinnamon Rolls. The most appealing was called Super Fantastic Cinnamon Rolls, but I was a little confused by some of the measurements and wanted to do most of the prep the night before, so here’s my own adaptation:
1 cup warm milk (microwave 45 seconds)
2 room temperature eggs
1/3 cup softened butter
4 1/2 cups bread flour
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup sugar
2 1/2 tsp bread machine yeast
Dump all this into your bread machine and set for “dough cycle”. Oh, how I love my bread machine!
1 cup light brown sugar
2 1/2 Tbsp cinnamon
1/3 cup butter, softened
While the dough is mixing combine cinnamon and sugar. After dough has finished turn it onto a floured surface. let sit for about 10 minutes, then roll out thinly. It needs to be at least 2ft X 1 1/2 ft, but the thinner you get it the more layers of yumminess you will have. Spread the melted butter edge to edge, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar mixture, and roll tightly, starting at the long edge. Slice into 12-14 rolls and place on cookie sheet or 9×13 pan. I prefer stoneware for this because it cooks so much more evenly. Cover and let rise 30 minutes or until doubled (or thereabouts). If you’re doing this the night before, this is the point when you cover it with plastic wrap, put it in the fridge, and go to bed.
Next morning, pull the rolls out and let them sit for about 30 minutes before you put them in a 400 degree oven. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
3 ounces cream cheese
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cup confectioner’s sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
dash of salt
While rolls are baking mix frosting ingredients. It will be thick. When the rolls are brown take them out of the oven and spread with frosting.
These rolls are so soft and the frosting is rich, but not overly sweet. This would be a great “special treat” breakfast.

  1. It's 9:40am on Saturday and I am now craving cinnamon rolls hard core! And I don't have a bread machine nor do I have the motivation to bake these, but your photo was mouth watering!

Visiting from LBS tea party! (How tasty those buns would be with a cuppa tea!)

  2. Holy Moly, I made these about two weeks ago and put them on my blog too. FUNNY…I'm blaming them on why my jiggly parts are so jiggly..You might just be a bad influence on me..oohh, or maybe a partner in crime? I think so

  3. Heavenly! I had better make these only when we have a houseful of folks… otherwise I would eat them all myself. Thanks for sharing!
