Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. — Matthew 6:19-21

Running across this verse was comforting to me this week, as we’ve been unexpectedly short on material treasures recently.  We’re not short on spiritual treasures, though!  I’ve been blessed with a loving and patient husband, sweet and clever kids, a supportive extended family, and loyal friends.  We’ve finally found a new church home, and I’m starting to believe that everything really will work out okay even though my life is now very different from what I ever expected it would be.

  3. What a great blog. A very familiar passage of scripture but a much needed one in this day with focus on wealth. We are only as rich as our soul is filled with the Spirit of the living God. God bless, Bobbi

  4. Visiting from Spiritual Sunday; I love that scripture you quoted. I try to live by it. It seems like you are blessed indeed with a loving family and an awesome God who knows your every need! Glad you found a church family too! It is good to be connected with fellow believers to do life with!

  5. Spiritual blessings are free. And don’t they make the material shortage less important? I just prayed that you will be blessed with some extra in the spiritual and material.

  6. What a great post. We too have been short on material things recently, and we often need reminding that those things don’t matter. Thanks for posting!

  7. I keep running across the same message and the same scripture today, perhaps it’s God reassuring me 🙂 I am so happy that I don’t put much into earthly things.. as they fade and shatter. Our treasure is in Heaven!
