Tyson’s Homestyle Chicken Fries (Cordon Bleu Style) + Spicy Ketchup Dip: Perfect Snacks for Teens!

This is the look you get when you ask a fourteen-year-old boy to look happy about going grocery shopping on Spring Break instead of sleeping in or playing video games:

But this is the look you get when he gets to be the taste-tester.

MMM, MMM, good!

To wrap up our Spring Break, John and I went shopping at Sam’s Club with Dianna, Rachel, and Maeve.

shopping for Tyson Chicken Fries

They were in search of snacks for their big family while we were in search of Tyson’s new Homestyle Chicken Fries for #ChickenFryTime! (Don’t miss all the details of our trip over on Google+.)

We were lucky enough to hit up a demo station while we were there. The Tyson Chicken Fries were good on their own, but I wanted to find something new for John to use as a dip.

He’s only ever wanted ketchup on chicken. It’s time to branch out!

Since he’s recently developed a taste for spicy foods I had a plan in mind.

Spicy Ketchup Dip for Tyson Chicken Fries

I created a Spicy Ketchup Dip — only 3 ingredients!

  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 tsp creamy horseradish sauce
  • 1/4 tsp coarse ground black pepper

Just a few minutes, and you’ve got a delicious dip teens will gobble up! If your teen isn’t a fan of spicy dips, ranch dressing is always a great back up plan.

After the fries were fully cooked I wrapped them in small pieces of deli ham and topped them with slivers of Swiss cheese, then tucked them back into the oven for a couple of minutes. Scrumptious!

Having a growing teen in the house means growth spurts along with an insatiable appetite. After Dianna noticed John’s pants were too short, it looks like I’ll be planning another shopping trip for new jeans!

At least my freezer is full of snacks for John and his friends.

He’ll be starting marching band practice this summer, which will mean a 3,000 calorie diet.

Looks like I’ll be shopping for more food every few days, just like I did when Aaron was younger! It will also mean no time for a family vacation for us unless it’s just a quick trip.

  1. I have a plain ketchup only eater around here too and one of the dipping sauces I tried was to add some spice to ketchup. Your variation sounds yummy and I’ll have to try it!
